If you thought the Moonswatch madness was over, think again. After the launch of “Mission to the Moonphase” featuring Snoopy earlier this year, Omega and Swatch have unveiled their latest collaboration in the MoonSwatch series: “Mission on Earth,” featuring three stunning new designs. This time, they’re turning their gaze towards Earth, having previously always looked beyond it. The “Mission on Earth” collection draws inspiration from the beauty of our planet, each design reflecting natural phenomena visible from space: volcanic lava, the Aurora Borealis, and deserts. Each chronograph in this collection boasts a special shade, created exclusively for the Moonswatch.
First up is the “Mission on Earth – Lava.” This vibrant orange watch design draws inspiration from the dramatic beauty of volcanoes and flowing lava. The striking contrast and glow against the darkness of space make it a standout piece. A nice touch is the orange chronograph seconds hand, a nod to the colour and shape of the OMEGA 1968 Speedmaster Moonwatch “Ultraman” model.
Next is the “Mission on Earth – Polar Lights,” featuring a turquoise Bioceramic case, crown, and hands. The dial is sprinkled with tiny silver stars inspired by aventurine glass dials, with the layout of these sparkles varying on each model.
Lastly, the “Mission on Earth – Desert” model features a sand-coloured case and a greige (taupe) dial. It comes with a VELCRO® strap adorned with contrasting sand-coloured topstitching and matching hands, giving it a distinct “Dune”-esque vibe.
All three designs incorporate Super-LumiNova (green emission) on the hour and minute hand markers, as well as the tip of the chronograph seconds hand, ensuring a perfect glow in the dark. As a tribute to the Speedmaster Alaska II and III, the Arabic numerals and indexes are arranged in a radial format.
