LVMH Watch Week 2024 returns to showcase the latest innovations from the watchmaking brands within the LVMH Group.
In the event’s fifth edition, we’re witnessing Hublot releasing a major new model, new variations on the Bulgari Bulgari line, and the reintroduction of some classic timepieces from Tag Heuer and Zenith. Additionally, making their debut participation are Daniel Roth and Gérald Genta, iconic Maisons relaunched within La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton in Geneva. Below, we explore some of the most noteworthy releases of the year at the LVMH Watch Week 2024 in Miami.
Introducing the latest Bulgari Bulgari collection, available in two distinct sizes: a nod to vintage elegance at 26 mm and a contemporary statement at 38 mm, both offered in luxurious yellow or rose gold finishes. The yellow gold rendition boasts a classic black dial adorned with gilded numerals and baton indices, while its rose gold counterpart exudes a softer allure with a silver opaline dial. Drawing inspiration from the original 1975 design, these timepieces feature familiar accents. The 38mm iteration showcases a transparent caseback revealing the intricate self-winding mechanical BVL 191 caliber, while the 26 mm version operates with precision quartz movement.
Besides that, in an exquisite partnership, Bulgari collaborates with Blackpink’s LISA to unveil a captivating second collaboration, the BULGARI BULGARI X LISA LIMITED EDITION. Reflecting on the delicate subtle hues of the Edelweiss flower, the timepiece is meticulously crafted from steel and rose gold, featuring a bezel adorned with the iconic Bulgari Bulgari engraving in radiant rose gold. Its dial, aglow with the iridescence of mother-of-pearl and the brilliance of diamonds is the essence of elegance and refinement.
Two striking additions to the Octo Finissimo family. The Octo Finissimo Yellow Gold showcases Bulgari’s iconic blue sunray dial, while the Tuscan Copper edition draws inspiration from the rebellious spirit of the 16th-century Mannerist movement, featuring a sunray Tuscan copper dial with a warm salmon hue. These sleek and sporty timepieces effortlessly marry exceptional legibility with a remarkably slender profile of just 6.4 mm. With a transparent caseback revealing the inner workings of the in-house BVL 138 caliber, which drives the primary hours and small seconds, these watches boast a generous 60-hour power reserve.
Hublot introduces its latest spectacle, the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System Titanium, marking its tenth masterpiece. With a remarkable pedigree boasting 592 components meticulously crafted over 5 years of research and development, this masterpiece is limited to just 50 exclusive pieces. Featuring four rotating displays that exhibit hours, minutes, power reserve, and seconds on the inclined tourbillon cage, the MP-10 Tourbillon is a testament to precision and innovation. Its winding system, employing the verticalised weight principle exclusive to Hublot, winds bidirectionally, ensuring a power reserve exceeding 48 hours.
The Classic Fusion Tourbillon Orlinski makes a dazzling return in two captivating variations: a vibrant yellow and a serene sky blue. This ongoing collaboration with renowned French artist Richard Orlinski brings forth these limited edition timepieces, with just 30 pieces available for each model.
The sunny yellow rendition radiates charm, with its case, strap, bezel, hands, and indices all bathed in the lustrous hue. Powered by the manually wound HUB6021 movement, it proudly displays Orlinski’s distinctive bold contours, where components appear to float in space, supported by black PVD skeleton bridges. Enhancing its allure, the power reserve indicator at 8-9 o’clock and the captivating tourbillon at 6 o’clock command attention. In contrast, the azure counterpart evokes a tranquil sky, harmoniously blending silver rhodium-plated bridges with polished, satin-brushed components, creating a mesmerising aesthetic.
Zenith’s El Primero proudly presents a triple calendar design reminiscent of the iconic A386 blueprint from 1969. Featuring a tri-compax configuration, it showcases a moonphase display alongside symmetrically positioned days and months windows, complemented by a 4:30 date aperture. Available in three distinctive colorways, including the classic “panda” opaline dial, slate gray, and an exclusive sunburst olive-green tone dial reserved for the Boutique Edition.
This timepiece seamlessly integrates a 1/10th of a second chronograph function, powered by the cutting-edge El Primero 3610 calibre. Operating at a frequency of 5 Hz, it delivers precise timekeeping and boasts a substantial 60-hour power reserve, ensuring reliability and performance that stand the test of time.
TAG Heuer celebrates its daring heritage, tracing back to 1978, with the unveiling of the latest addition to the Aquaracer Solargraph series: a fresh 34mm size. Embracing innovation, the 2024 lineup introduces five new dials, ranging from the iconic Polar Blue to the signature blue dial accented with Solargraph motifs.
Expanding its horizons, the collection incorporates mother-of-pearl dials into the Solargraph series, achieving the necessary semi-transparency for Solargraph technology while upholding a standard of refined elegance. Underlining its commitment to excellence, the Calibre TH50-01, developed in collaboration with Manufacture La Joux-Perret, comes with an impressive 5-year extended warranty, promising reliability and precision for years to come.
Under the helm of LVMH’s La Fabrique du Temps, the reinvigorated maison Gérald Genta renews its commitment to the brand’s core principles: octagonal shapes, melodious chiming sounds, and haute horlogerie complications. Notably, the whimsical Disney-inspired dial adorning its Minute Repeater, crafted for the postponed Only Watch charity auction, resonates as a powerful statement. The presence of Mickey Mouse’s festive gathering on the dial serves as an exuberant harbinger of optimism for the year, evoking a sense of boundless joy that’s impossible to resist.
The resurgence of Daniel Roth under the guidance of LVMH’s La Fabrique du Temps is causing a stir among watch enthusiasts deeply immersed in the world of horology. With celebrities like Timothée Chalamet showcasing their affection for smaller-cased timepieces, the timeless allure of Daniel Roth’s distinct rounded elegance aligns perfectly with the current zeitgeist.
As an integral part of the maison’s revival, the Tourbillon Souscription pays homage to the brand’s inaugural timepiece introduced in 1989. The design ethos is characterized by a double-ellipse case crafted from yellow gold, measuring 38.6 x 35.5mm, while its meticulously hand-finished guilloche dial captivates with its graceful, sweeping curves, adding a touch of sophistication to every glance.
