Ask any fashion enthusiast about the late 2000s, and they’ll tell you about the golden era of candid celebrity street style. It was a time when Balenciaga Harness boots and Alexander McQueen skull scarves dominated the zeitgeist, and a Venti Starbucks was akin to an of-the-moment accessory. One person who was on everyone’s mood board? Nicole Richie.
In her House of Harlow era, the reality star-turned-designer was a captivating fixture of the Hollywood fashion scene for her effortless taste and Boho-grunge aesthetic. Since having her two children, Harlow and Sparrow, though, Richie has kept a relatively low profile until now.
With a spate of appearances recently, the 42-year-old has teased a glorious return to the spotlight, beginning with a stunning Schiaparelli mini dress from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2024 RTW show at the premiere of her new film Don’t Tell Mum the Babysitter’s Dead.
From there, she continued the press tour with a chic black look from Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection by Anthony Vaccarello. Comprised of a halterneck dress with a knee-skimming pencil skirt silhouette worn with sheer tights and a leather bomber jacket draped around her arms, the monochromatic outfit ticked all the right boxes.
The next day, Richie opted for Saint Laurent again, this time with a draped jersey maxi dress in the ‘cumin’ shade with a gold and red pendant necklace and black pointed pumps.
Though she’s hardly put a foot wrong in the fashion category, Richie’s style as of late reflects an effortless evolution over the years. As she remains faithful to her penchant for classics with retro-inspired accessories, we can only hope that this is just the beginning of her style renaissance.
