Anything Bella Hadid touches—or wears—turns to gold, and she has recently been seen wearing the Adidas SL 72 sneaker. Since the model basically brought the Adidas Samba back en vogue, we predict she’ll be doing the same to the SL 72s.
The SL 72s continue on the current slim-fit sneaker trend, but what makes these shoes stand out is the range of colourways they’re available in. As far as sneaker trends go, 2024 seems to be the year of the colourful sneaker, and we’re here for the pop of colour it brings to our outfits. But not to worry—other than bright colourways such as the yellow-green, blue-white, and yellow-blue, there are also neutral colours available in greys, blacks, and dark blues.
Like the Sambas, the SL 72s were also brought back from the archives—the sneaker was originally designed to be a lightweight running shoe, launched back in 1972. The “SL” in the name stood for “Super Light”, which, at the time, was revolutionary for a pair of sneakers that gave athletes far greater speed and agility on the tracks.
The SL 72s of today are still lightweight in their construction with the iconic T-toe design. In conjunction with the relaunch, Adidas introduced two new colourways and iterations: the blue, white, and red SL 72 RS in men’s sizing and the green, white, and yellow SL 72 OG W in women’s sizing. Colours aside, the SL 72s shape up to be pretty versatile in the ways you can style it in an outfit. Don’t believe us? We dug through Instagram to show you the different ways you can style the Adidas SL 72 sneaker, from girly to androgynous, from dressy to dressed down.
