When Margot Robbie inadvertently revealed her pregnancy on the shores of Lake Como while on holiday with her husband, Tom Ackerley, it was apparent her subsequent maternity style would make a splash. Indubitably so due to the nature of the joyous announcement—see: boarding a Danny Ocean-esque speedboat in Northern Italy—but also because of her outings on the global Barbie press tour, which caused a tidal wave of buzz for Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar grossing doll-to-screen adaptation.
While Robbie’s street style is far less theatrical than what appears on the red carpet, it’s nevertheless enviable with her CAMILLA + MARC tailoring or flirty Chanel sets. When it comes to her pregnancy dressing, though, Robbie is clearly taking cues from her silicone Malibu blonde counterpart with a dream closet filled with high-fashion maternity staples. (A wardrobe we’d happily dive into and raid, expecting or not!)
Beginning with a bump-baring ruched crop top and raffia Bottega Veneta purse, Robbie soon made her official outing as an expecting mother on the twelfth day of the Wimbledon tournament. In courtside Alaïa and The Row’s carpenter-approved Canadian tuxedo, the LuckyChap co-founder’s maternity style is the stuff of sartorial fantasy. Raise a glass of Papa Salt gin and behold Margot Robbie’s best maternity fashion ahead.
Alaïa — Wimbledon, England
In an ensemble that whispers exceptional taste, Margot Robbie watched Daniil Medvedev face off against incumbent Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz on Day 12 of the tennis tournament. The 34-year-old selected an ensemble from Alaïa’s new season Fall/Winter 2024 collection presented earlier in the year at Paris Fashion Week.
The floaty piece featured a fluid shape with a draped leave and a polka dot motif achieved through grommet studding. She completed the look with triangular-shaped peep-toe mules and the coveted Le Teckel elongated shoulder bag in two-toned canvas and leather. Azzedine Alaïa might’ve been the Titan of Tight, but under Pieter Mulier’s helm, this “totally important designer” is desirable for every stage of womanhood.
Bottega Veneta — Lake Como, Italy
The look that started it all. Showcasing more than her freshly chopped lob and European Summer wares, Robbie debuted her baby bump in a slouchy travel outfit consisting of a tailored black blazer and matching trousers. She paired a gathered cropped top with Bottega Veneta’s raffia Sardine bag to evoke the ‘la dolce vita’ essence of her setting. Despite the gilded fish handle being the pièce de résistance of this Matthieu Blazy-designed creation, the actress and producer opted to wear it over her shoulder to slightly cover her growing belly.
The Row — Sardinia, Italy
While on holiday with husband Tom Ackerley, Robbie embraced a polished look that prioritised comfort.
In photos obtained by People magazine (see here), the actress could be seen wearing a sheer off-white collared shirt with only a single button done up at the chest to show off her burgeoning bump. Keeping things chic and simple, she paired the top with low-rise black trousers. She accessorised with beachy additions to compliment her la dolce vita sojourn, like a woven sun hat by The Row, tortoiseshell sunglasses, some chunky slides and Bottega Veneta’s Solstice bag.
