In the words of Mariah Carey, “It’s time!” We’re, of course, referring to the annual festive season where it feels like a holiday every other week.
It’s the period when the popstar begins to defrost, our copies of Love Actually wait in anticipation to be played and window shopping for our wish lists becomes a prerequisite, not a pastime.
If you’re not already in the merry spirit of the season, Simon Porte Jacquemus has other plans. With less than six weeks until Christmas, Jacquemus has offered the first taste of the yuletide spell with his holiday campaign, “GUIRLANDE”. (Or “garland” for our non-French speaking readers).
Helming the campaign is Californian cool girl Kendall Jenner. Though her encounters with a ‘White Christmas’ aren’t something the Los Angeles-based supermodel would experience on the West Coast, Jenner and Jacquemus have adopted a varying take on the typical festive campaign.
No cheesy, ugly Christmas sweaters or roasting chestnuts by the fire here. Instead, a scantily-clad Jenner assumes the role of a seductive, solitary Santa Claus.
Dressed in an array of frosty, floor-length shearling coats, cosy jacquard woollen sweaters and chintzy lurex silver sets, the brand reminds us of the joy of getting dressed up during the festive season—even if it is just to stay home.
Although the campaign does slightly remind us of the pandemic Christmases we spent in lockdown and isolation—yes, like Jenner, we all had a moment of lounging on our couches wearing a Santa hat and having nothing to do—the campaign does a stellar job at showcasing Jacquemus’ festive spin on their signature accessories and silhouettes.
Though the icicle-style Christmas lights aren’t for sale, the cherry leather sets with fur trims and gilded Le Bisou bags are available for gifting—for your loved ones and yourself. Novelty gifts, including Jacquemus-themed gift cards, are also for purchase as a quaint stocking stuffer.
Can you hear the slay bells ringing? We can.
