Onitsuka Tiger, the Japanese brand behind the well-loved Mexico 66 sneakers, turns 75 this year. To celebrate, the label will be launching a series of events in Paris and Tokyo.
The most notable one so far? Hôtel Onitsuka Tiger, located opposite the Champs-Élysées in Paris, where the label will be opening a flagship store next year. It aims to be a space where creatives and other like-minded individuals can gather. The concept will see a range of immersive experiences spanning fashion, art, travel and music fields. It’ll also house the Yellow Tiger Café, where guests can sample Japanese culinary culture. If you’re in the city for the Paris 2024 Olympics, you should definitely drop by.
Adding to the atmosphere is the lineup of residents at Hôtel Onitsuka Tiger—think Grammy Award-winning pianist Yuja Wang, Michelin star chef Yoji Tokuyoshi and more. These creatives will showcase their talents over the course of the event.
Fans of the brand will also be able to attend exhibitions featuring shoe designs from Onitsuka Tiger’s archives and see photos tracing the trajectory of the brand, along with an installation inspired by the label’s founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka.
In other news, Onitsuka Tiger will also be hosting an event for its anniversary in Tokyo that will see a photo exhibition of 75 of its shoe designs—including the pair that helped launch the brand. There will also be a short movie tour of Onitsuka Tiger stores around the world.
Hôtel Onitsuka Tiger opens from Monday, 22 July to Saturday, 17 August (it’ll be closed on 3 August) from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm at 25 Avenue des Champs-Élysées 75008 Paris, France.
