It’s not every day you see the French Olympic artistic swimming team in heels, let alone clad in the signature Christian Louboutin red soles. Wearing the new collection Christian Louboutin Spring 2025 metallic pumps, the Miss Z, the swimmers pulled off a flawless, old Hollywood glam performance in Paris last September, showcasing the latest addition to the red-bottomed lineup.
Like its predecessors, the Pigalle and Kate, the Miss Z is “a response to yet another cultural and stylistic shift”. Designed to create the illusion of being taller than they appear, the innovative heels are a scene-stealer. Speaking right into the ears of the sneaker-and-flats generation, there’s also a slight expansion at the tip of the shoes where a padded insole is added for extra comfort. Available in varying colourways—from dusty Vintage Rose to polished silver—the sleek pumps are a versatile number that fits seamlessly into just about any wardrobe.
The pumps are part of a wider Christian Louboutin Spring 2025 collection inspired by Beauty and the Beast. In a campaign taken in the city that birthed the brand, this Disney-coded collection evolved around designs that find balance in feminine codes and unrestrained savages. The venerable sense of artistry and the savoir-faire in shoemaking at Christian Louboutin transcends as craftsmanship meets prowess in storytelling. While the mystical Enchanting Rose in the tale is transferred onto a new red rose fabric design, the Estepic platform sandals are covered in 1000 spikes that mirror the thorny bloom. On a shimmering note, chandelier-inspired pairs are added to the Belle range whereas the silver stilettoes Just Jewel and Rosalie Jewel are encrusted with hand-set crystals—an imitation of Belle’s diamond teardrops.
The beast’s demeanour, on the other hand, is illustrated perfectly through the staggering Kate ClawMax; the Raptilula Alta, covered with scale-like spikes; and the Almeja platform espadrilles which mimic hooves. The rawness is also portrayed through the military Dune boots—another perennial style of the house, despite not being as widely talked about as the So Kate pumps, making a strong comeback with iterations—flat and heeled, laced and elasticated.
Expanding the existing bag collection in the house, we welcome new silhouettes: the Loubi54 Soft Pouch is crafted with a blossoming 3D rose placed on the centre of the sling bags. The bag also comes in a subtler and more timeless variation, furnished with a plush flap. Those who appreciate practicality will cherish the Le 54 Tote not only for its supple and slouchy exterior made with Nappa lambskin but also for its versatility as an everyday bag that would come in handy as we navigate the city. Finishing the collection on a high note, the shoemaking brand is also venturing into eyewear for the first time this season. A full collection is released, featuring its distinctive and eccentric heritage traits kept in mind. Accented with modern touches, these frames are set to complement the wardrobe of a new-gen, a bold Miss Z the heritage house aims to create with this Spring collection.
