Two for one! With the SAG-AFTRA strikes delaying the 75th Emmys to January 2024, the awards ceremony’s 76th iteration marks a glorious return to its usual September timeslot.
Hosted in Los Angeles, the Emmys are one of television’s biggest nights, and with so many incredible projects being rolled out over the last year, there is plenty to celebrate.
Leading the charge for nominations is the Asian-American historical drama Shōgun, which received over 25 nominations across key categories including Outstanding Drama Series. Set in feudal Japan, the FX epic has become the first-ever Japanese-language release to be nominated in the prestigious division. Culinary drama The Bear comes in at a close second with 23 nominations.
Elsewhere, Richard Gadd’s global hit Baby Reindeer joins Netflix’s reboot of The Talented Mr. Ripley as a contender for the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, while Ryan Gosling earns his first-ever Emmy nomination for Guest Actor In a Comedy Series after his ludicrous character breaks during his third time hosting Saturday Night Live.
In a slew of firsts, Selena Gomez has earned her first nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Only Murders in the Building, Naomi Watts is nominated for Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for her role as Babe Paley in Ryan Murphy’s drama Feud: Capote vs. The Swans and Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau has become the first trans actress to be recognised in the Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series category.
Of course, with all this great talent comes plenty of great style, and this year’s guests have come with their A-game. Below, all the best red carpet looks from the 76th Emmys.
