Happy Lunar New Year! We’re still floating through Aquarius season but the main event this week is the new moon in Aquarius (aka Lunar New Year –29 January AEST and GMT). This one is poised to inspire huge transformations and far-reaching goals. If your January 1 resolutions never quite got off the ground (or maybe you took a little tumble in Spicy Marg town) consider this your invitation to start over.
Aquarius energy is all about change and evolution. It’s also synonymous with technology. If you’re struggling with a longer-term issue or can’t find motivation, there’s never been a better moment to lean on AI (seriously)
The other major influence this week is Venus and Neptune getting cosy, all with the support of Uranus and Mars. This is epic, out-of-the-box romantic territory. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself reconnecting with an old flame, and talking into the night as you ponder, “How crazy would it be to move to London to be with him?” It’s big and exciting and optimistic – a nice reprieve from all the irritation and burnout that Mars retrograde has been stirring up (which, by the way, it is still doing but this week is overshadowed by other stuff).

Friends and alliances are a major theme this week. As the Aquarian energy – which loves a group activity, btw – inspires you to get out and get social, there’s also a great window to forge some new connections. Making friends as an adult is extremely awkward but if you were in the market to broaden you horizons, this is the week to do it. Team sports, trivia nights and short courses (like yoga teacher training) are all excellent options if the thought of asking an acquaintance out for a coffee gives you the ick.
TAURUS AND TAURUS RISING
Clarity abounds this week as Aquarius season heats up and energises the foundations in your life. Long-term plans especially around your career are primed to take shape. If you haven’t got any, start your vision board now. Update your LinkedIn, send some connection requests, or make time with your boss to talk about your long-term goals. You may not get a juicier moment this year to plant the seed for something new; so don’t be shy! Pay attention to the green lights and go for it.
GEMINI AND GEMINI RISING
If your feet are feeling especially itchy this week, it’s not just you, it’s in the sky. With the Aquarian vibes making you feel extra restless; you’ll be hard pressed not to fall down a rabbit hole on traveltok. The good news is, this week is perfect for actually making plans, getting clarity and setting things in motion. Where do you want to go this year? Is it a holiday, or something more? Start your research, fire up your Google Docs and don’t be afraid to check with ChatGPT whether there’s a destination you haven’t yet thought of…
CANCER AND CANCER RISING
While you’re still under strict instruction to slow down and lay low (thanks to Mars retrograde) the rest of the sky wants you to make yourself useful while you’re pottering around at home. This week’s Aquarian new moon is a clear ping to get serious about your long-term money goals. If you’ve got super, have a look at it. If you’ve got investments, do a check in. This is an excellent week to phone a friend or get a second opinion. Ask around for recommendations on a financial advisor. You don’t have to do this alone.
LEO AND LEO RISING
All signs point to partnerships this week. If you’re in a relationship, the planets suggest you’ll be playing a supporting role this week as your other half is in the midst of making a major long-term change. If you’re looking for love this year, it’s an excellent time to get clear on what you want. Aquarius energy is quite uncompromising, so don’t be afraid to get incisive with your list. Write it down, and don’t be surprised if someone materialises sooner than you expect.
VIRGO AND VIRGO RISING
This new moon is bringing the tough love. It’s time you put your health and wellbeing first. If you’ve let things slide, don’t ruminate on time wasted – what’s done is done. Aquarius is all about looking forward, and planning for the future. How can you turn your approach to wellbeing on its head? Do you literally need to do more inversions in yoga? Or can you experiment with a finding different time in your schedule to exercise? Be brave and try something new … it might just stick.
LIBRA AND LIBRA RISING
Ready for a reset? It’s a monumental new moon inspiring creativity, passion and play for Libra folks this week. Now is the time to think long and hard about how you put your creative visions first in 2025. What if you made creativity a priority the same way you do relationships, work and social commitments.
