Like a meerkat popping its head up out of the debris, you may feel yourself emerging from the aftermath of a wild few weeks. Mercury’s direct, the full moon has “popped” and Mars and Pluto, well, they’re not yet ready to rumble (at the moment, anyway).

The two main players are the Sun and Neptune, who are bringing creativity and surrender as Sagittarius season wraps up (until Saturday AEST and GMT). The other major mood is a friction between big, lofty ambitions and a more practical, restrained approach. It is the astro equivalent of being seated between a designated driver and someone who’s ordered a fourth round of shots for the table.

You could try to talk them both around, but they’re probably just not going to get along. Go into situations knowing this kind of discordant energy exists and at least you won’t be surprised (or have the foresight to move seats). On the weekend, the Solstice (Saturday AEST and GMT) signals a big change as we welcome Capricorn season and a more serious mood of reflection and review takes hold.

ARIES AND ARIES RISING

With Mercury back on the front foot you’ll be taking care of business (very possibly travel related) that was causing headaches last week. It’s a good feeling to get some clarity around what or how you’re going to get where you need to get, without the drama of “will I” or “won’t I”? Elsewhere in the sky, you could notice a bit of tension. Wednesday (AEST and GMT) looks tense, but ‘tis the season! You can only roll with it and choose what conversations/battles are worth your time. Unless you’re coordinating the entire family for Christmas it’s probably one you can sit out.

TAURUS AND TAURUS RISING

Delays and miscommunications – especially involving money – should start to sort out this week as the skies point toward clearer communication. With Mercury retracing its steps, expect conversations (or mistakes) that dominated last week to clear up. Mid-week, a frustration at home could boil over. It may seem trivial but it is indicative of a deeper issue you need to address. Over the weekend the Solstice shifts the mood, bringing a sense of earthy pragmatism you should find surprisingly comforting.

GEMINI AND GEMINI RISING

You’re firing from all cylinders this week in the wake of a playful full moon and your ruling planet Mercury ending its retrograde cycle. Expect conversations with the most important people in your life to feel a whole lot less fraught, as you tie up loose ends left over from last week. The middle of the week looks a little spicy. Wednesday (AEST and GMT) might be a good day to give the family group chat a wide berth. At work, a discord between your ambition/vision, and what’s actually possible could cause tension with someone higher up. This may be a situation where you need to agree to disagree.

CANCER AND CANCER RISING

You’re in for a big shift this week with the Solstice ushering in a four-week season where your closest relationships are under the microscope. The vibe shift kicks off on Saturday (AEST and GMT) but before you get there, this week is all about getting things in good working order. Life admin, scheduling – that doctor’s appointment you’ve been putting off – all need some focus this week. Use this next five days to clarify conversations and commitments that felt a little hazy last week – the sky is primed for you to get sh*t done. Then, when come Friday, when the OOO is on, you can focus on what (or who) really matters.

LEO AND LEO RISING

If you haven’t got the memo by now, it’s time to take things down a notch. With Mars retrograde in full swing, you’re likely to feel as though you’re trying to run through quicksand. Take the cue and let yourself slow down. In other news, this week looks good for clearing the air with friends who have seemed a bit out of sorts lately. With Mercury now moving forward, conversations that felt a “off” last week should flow more easily. The most challenging part will be keeping a cool head. A shorter fuse is another likely manifestation of the current energy for Leos, so don’t be surprised if you feel less patient than usual.

VIRGO AND VIRGO RISING

Now Mercury is on the move, conversations with family should get back on track – just in time for the holidays. Elsewhere, a growing tension between your work (especially your boss’s expectations) and your partner (or someone important to you) starts to build. Some diplomacy is on order to navigate the disconnect but be ok with the idea that maybe, there isn’t a simple solution. On the weekend, Capricorn season (from Saturday AEST and GMT) shifts the focus to your creativity and appetite for play. Phone your girls and get some drinks in the calendar, you’ve earned it.

LIBRA AND LIBRA RISING

Although Mercury is back in business, Jupiter and Saturn hint at a few hiccups in your daily schedule. Do yourself a favour and allow extra time for running around this week. As you navigate a tension between trying to “get it all done” and be everywhere at once, expect to hit a few speed bumps beyond your control. Rather than trying to pack more in, scale back on what you’ve got on and say “yes” to (hard as that is, especially for a Libra at this time of year). On Saturday (AEST and GMT), the Solstice marks the beginning of your official homebody season. Lean into the mood and clear the decks for lots of quality time with your most cherished people.

SCORPIO AND SCORPIO RISING

Getting your head around a financial quandary that’s been keeping you up will be your main order of business this week. Now Mercury is direct, the answers should become a little clearer. It might not be done and dusted, but you can at least envisage your next steps. Meanwhile, frustration at work, particularly with your manager continues (peaking Wednesday AEST and GMT). This is a longer cycle you’re being invited to explore. Consider what it is about the situation that’s triggering something within you about your own sense of agency. What is the deeper lesson it’s pointing towards?

SAGITTARIUS AND SAGITTARIUS RISING

Praise be! Now Mercury is direct, you should start to feel a bit more human after three weeks of mishaps, mix-ups and foot-in-mouth. As you shimmy through the final days of your home season, the Sun and Neptune bring you a sense of creative inspiration. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself furiously painting a wall in your house or rearranging your lounge room on a whim. Next weekend Capricorn season (from Saturday AEST and GMT) signals a more serious mood where financial issues come to the fore. Until then, make eat, drink and get arty.

CAPRICORN AND CAPRICORN RISING

With your home season on the horizon (Saturday AEST and GMT) there’s a real sense of cleaning up shop this week. Use the (ever so) slightly calmer energy to take care of business and tie up loose ends. A frustration around a big money decision could get activated mid-week (Wednesday AEST and GMT). The issue isn’t going anywhere but the surge of annoyance should pass by the weekend. At least with Mercury back moving forward, progress should be a little faster than it has been until this point.

AQUARIUS AND AQUARIUS RISING

There’s a “final sprint” energy this week as the last days of Sagittarius season bring you one last hit of solar energy to get it all done. That’s good news if you’re trying to get any major work out the door before the end of the year but don’t be surprised if you feel you’re starting to flag. With Mars retrograde in the centre of your life, your energy and patience may be wearing thin (especially on Wednesday AEST and GMT). Once the Solstice rolls around (Saturday AEST and GMT), your annual astro cue to go to lay low kicks in. Until then, take things one step at a time and hang in there.

PISCES AND PISCES RISING

Good enough is good enough” should be your motto this week, as the final days of Sagittarius season encourage you to exhale and zoom out from the minutia. As communications improve – especially on the work front – there’s a sense of relief and surrender. Behind the scenes, a tension between your long-term plans and your family could flare up. With Jupiter and Saturn at loggerheads all week, don’t be surprised if you’re dealing with a situation you feel you just can’t win (or don’t have the energy/desire to fight about). If there’s a disconnect between what you can manage right now, and what someone else expects, you don’t have to be the one to make up the shortfall.
