Horoscopes September 2–8: A Little Springtime Reset To Remedy Mercury Retrograde

After three weeks of retrograde, it's time for some spring cleaning. Welcome to a week of repair, says astrologer Emma Vidgen.

The big change energy continues this week with Uranus continuing to have an influence over proceedings. First cab off the rank, a new moon in Virgo could embolden detox/reset energy, motivating you to make small but manageable tweaks to improve your day-to-day.

Unsure what to start over? Look to discussions from the past three and half weeks (during Mercury retrograde) for inspiration. As you retrace your steps and revisit conversations, some unexpected change of plans could add another layer of intrigue.

But before you charge full steam ahead with grand plans (read: sign up for a 12-month membership), take things one step at a time. A healthy dose of restraint will serve you well. With Neptune bringing a hazy ambiguity to the situation, racing into the fray may result in you missing your target.

Aries and Aries rising

This week’s new moon (Tues GMT) is a cracker for turning over a new leaf. Whether it’s getting back to the gym, bringing your lunch to work every day or going to bed a smidge earlier, the sky is supporting a small but potent shift. Rather than starting from scratch try fine-tuning an existing routine by introducing an approach you’ve never tried before. A little bit of googling should offer inspiration on strange and unusual ways to do your thing. Suspend cynicism and commit to giving it a go – at least for the next four weeks.

Taurus and Taurus rising

The plot thickens this week as a key storyline in your life continues to evolve in unexpected ways. The weight of new information or a surprise approach will ensure the week is anything but dull. If you’ve been feeling overly serious of late, make a pact to prioritise more fun over the next four weeks – even if it’s something small or silly like singing at full-volume the entire drive to work or 80s-inspired dance classes.

Gemini and Gemini rising

There’s a lot happening this week but your highlight is the departure of mars from your home sign. As it charges off into Cancer (Wednesday GMT), expect to feel a whole lot more chill. The blustery, fidgety mood that’s dominated the past six weeks will ease significantly leaving you feeling more grounded than you have since late July. Monday’s new moon is a cracker for a little glow up at home. Bonus points if to involves taking things out rather than adding more stuff to your space.

Cancer and Cancer rising

If the recent retrograde uncovered weaknesses in your tech – passwords you can’t remember, a phone on the brink of collapse, etc – the planets are giving a green light for you to have a little upgrade. With the new moon activating your comms sphere,  that new iPhone never looked so good. In other news Mars ingress into Cancer (Wednesday GMT) emboldens you with a new level of confidence to advocate for yourself. If you’ve been feeling shy about speaking up, you should feel a whole lot more courageous to take on tough conversations (or even workouts) by the weekend.

Leo and Leo rising

A change of heart or mind is very possible this week with Mercury and Uranus challenging you to think differently about a situation that’s been in flux since early August. Reserve judgement and allow yourself time to reflect as new info comes to light, at least until next weekend if you can. Making a fresh start on something cash related is a brilliant way to distract from the other stuff taking up brain power.

Virgo and Virgo rising

You never met a goal you didn’t like and this week you’re getting a strong cue from the planets to set yourself some KPIs in your personal life. A health kick, a detox or even a little glow-up could be just what the doctor ordered. The key is to focus on trying something different, informed by new intel that’s come to light in recent weeks. But don’t run before you can walk. Slow and steady wins the race, especially before the middle of the week when things become a little less hazy.

Libra and Libra rising

Rest, recovery and solitude are your orders this week as the planets suggest a sabbatical of sorts. With the moon and sun colliding in the most shadowy section of your chart, making time to turn inwards and trust your intuition is the best way to work with the energy. Wednesday looks a little flat as the moon meets the south node, stirring up old baggage around needing to be liked by everyone. Meanwhile mars shift into cancer on Friday signals action stations at works. Prepare for things to ramp up as expectations, especially from your managers, escalate.

Scorpio and Scorpio rising

Intrigue abounds this week as you reframe and rethink your next steps (again) around a situation at work based on some new information. As the intel filters down, figuring out which way is up will be your greatest challenge. A wobble around Thursday could have you second guessing your choices but once the weekend rolls around things will seem a whole lot clearer. Once your ruling planet Mars wades into Cancer, pressure around big cash and money decisions should dissipate significantly. This week, more than others, fortune favours the cautious.

Sagittarius and Sagittarius rising

Ready to start over? You’re getting a strong signal from the sky to give something a go this week, and the emphasis is on “never-before-tried”. As a new moon on Tuesday offers a potent window to plant new seeds in your professional life, setting new goals or committing to a different tact will help you build momentum. An old friend could resurface on Thursday, threatening your newfound joie de vivre but by Friday things look less draining.

Capricorn and Capricorn rising

A question mark around a financial issue pulls focus this week, taking attention off the otherwise promising energetic reset delivered by the new moon on Tuesday (GMT). While the new moon energy offers a chance to wipe the slate clean and try something different, ongoing developments involving money could prove distracting. Pay attention to the mood change mid-week (Wednesday GMT) as Mars moves into your most important relationship sector and begins an almost six-month chapter where the focus will be on finding the courage to be vulnerable.

Aquarius and Aquarius rising

While it may have felt like your nearest and dearest are lost in the wilderness in recent times, a newfound clarity won’t necessarily make things feel any simpler. As a surprising confession or development pulls focus over the week, figuring out what that means for your financial figure will be a lot to mill over. Resist the urge to flog yourself on the reformer machine as a way to get out of your head – especially after Friday when mars moves into cancer and you’re more prone to overdoing it at the gym. Virgo season is about being kind and healing – make sure you start with yourself first.

Pisces and Pisces rising

What a time to be a Pisces! The gruelling space weather continues to ease from the middle of the week (Wednesday GMT). Before you get there, a juicy new moon invites you to turn over a new leaf in your most important relationships. Expect to feel a whole lot less tired than you have since the start of August, especially after Wednesday when Mars leaves Gemini. A little wobble on Thursday could see you retracing familiar ground with your partner, but after the initial ‘ouch’ things should blow over pretty quickly. Reconnect by spending a morning or a whole day on bed over the weekend when Mars in Cancer delivers a surge of sauciness.
