Ladakh is not just a place—it’s a living canvas, where mountains, monasteries, and vibrant culture converge to create an otherworldly allure. This breathtaking region served as the backdrop for our latest cover shoot; a celebration of its landscapes, flavours, and timeless traditions. Each location and moment we encountered revealed another layer of Ladakh’s story, as though etched into the trails we followed.
BEFORE YOU GO: Acclimatisation Essentials
The altitude in Ladakh is breathtaking—literally. Leh, the region’s capital, sits at an elevation of around 3,500 metres (11,500 feet). Adjusting to the thin air is crucial to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.
Day 1: Rest and hydrate. Upon arrival, avoid any strenuous activities, including sightseeing. Give your body the time it needs to adjust to the high altitude.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, but steer clear of alcohol and excessive caffeine, which can lead to dehydration.
Recognising Symptoms: Mild symptoms of altitude sickness, such as headaches, nausea, and fatigue, are common. Take it slow, and if symptoms persist, consult a local doctor or descend to a lower altitude.
Tip: Spend your first evening exploring your hotel and enjoying a slow-paced meal to acclimatise without overexerting yourself
