Between Us by Chok Yue Zan
So you’re done watching the best film and TV has to offer this month. What next? From the island of Borneo, painter Chok Yue Zan brings to his audience his first-ever solo exhibition in Malaysia to the heart of the city. Inclusive of five new paintings, the debut pieces are a part of his ongoing series, De Upside Down, one that he has been working on for the past two years. In the collection, he distorts what looks like idyllic scenes by combining different genres of views in one canvas, creating an alienating effect. Some are even tilted upside down for even more impact.
