Over a decade has passed since the inaugural Samsung Unpacked took place in Las Vegas back in March 2010 and yet Samsung still manages to surprise. This time around, the South Korean tech behemoth brought its biannual event to, for the first time ever, its home city Seoul. The move signifies a new era of mobile innovation and with it, a slew of new and improved Galaxy devices.
Here’s the rundown of the latest Galaxy upgrades that caught our eye:
Galaxy Z Flip5
The fifth generation of Galaxy foldable brings more to the table than the familiar sleek and compact designs and great performance. For the Galaxy Z Flip5, Samsung has introduced the new Flex Window that is 3.78 times larger than the previous generation. The new integrated hinge module, Flex Hinge, features a dual rail structure for better device protection, diffusing external impacts.
Other safety features that shall appeal to those who are always on the go are the shock dispersion layer that’s been placed on the main screen and the redesigned back for a more solid display. Other enhancements include the AI solution improvements for a powerful camera experience and the latest processor that allows for an optimised battery and strong performance.
Galaxy Z Fold5
If it seems like the Galaxy Z Fold5 has shed a few pounds, that’s because it has. This is the thinnest and lightest Fold yet. It’s a vision that is further echoed by the S Pen Fold Edition, which is now slimmer and more compact, allowing it to fit more comfortably in the pocket. And like the new Flip, the Galaxy Z Fold5 also offers great device protection with Flex Hinge.
Productivity is one of the main reasons the Fold has become a fan-favourite, so it is only appropriate that Samsung has updated the Taskbar to enable users to quickly switch between frequently used apps. The two-handed drag and drop has also been enhanced to efficiently move content between apps and screens, along with the increased peak brightness, by over 30 per cent up to 1750 nits.
Galaxy Tab S9
The Galaxy Tab S9 series has received its fair share of enhancements. Sleeker than ever, the Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, and S9 Ultra promise unrivalled entertainment experiences especially with the Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays. Adding to this is the advanced vapour chamber technology—a first for a Galaxy tablet—that helps power streaming, gaming, or video editing marathons.
Spending a longer time on the tablets also no longer means getting annoying eyestrain as the Eye Comfort function comes with a reduced low blue light, by more than 70 per cent. Acoustic-wise, the series offers spacious audio that is delivered through 20 per cent larger quad speakers with sound by AKG speaker system and Dolby Atmos immersive sound.
Galaxy Watch6
A more conspicuous change can be seen in the state-of-the-art Galaxy Watch6 series—Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic. Here, the exciting facelift includes a 20 per cent larger display, a 30 per cent slimmer bezel and a 15 per cent thinner rotating bezel, and a more vibrant, higher resolution display that boasts a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.
To support the display’s extended size and increased brightness, the series comes with a larger battery and reduced battery consumption. It is particularly perfect for tracking the users’ sleep during the night. Speaking of which, the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic boast improved sleep and wellness features with new functions that include the in-depth analysis of Sleep Score Factors.
