New year, new vibe! While we’re still doing the serious business of Capricorn energy (think: crazy New Year’s resolutions, intense fasting or cold turkey on the alcohol), there’s some other softness in the mix (hello, Venus in Pisces) to help take the edge off . If you haven’t got plans for next weekend, go forth and make them. The sky looks especially supportive of getting away, or getting together, no matter what your sign. It’s a light and floaty dose of fun to bring some much needed feels to the otherwise no-nonsense vibe of Capricorn season.

Remember to always read for your rising sign, rather than your sun sign to get the most accurate read. Cast your chart at  theastrologyofyou.com to learn your sign. Want to learn more? ARIES AND ARIES RISING

How do you balance your work façade with your off-the-clock persona? It may not be a dichotomy you’ve given a lot of thought to, but the skies this week are definitely asking you to consider this very question. Pay attention to the seemingly coincidental that highlight a tension between “work” you and “home developments” you. Maybe it’s as simple as cleaning up your IG, or reaching out to a potential mentor. It’s a good time to get serious, but with Venus greasing the wheels, asking for help should also be well received. Things might feel a little less easeful at home but don’t panic; this will be an ongoing storyline over the next few months. You don’t need to fix it this week.

TAURUS AND TAURUS RISING

If things have been feeling intense, rest assured, it’s not your imagination. This first leg of Mars retrograde (since 7 Dec) has been particularly spicy for Taureans. This week, the pressure eases, with Mars now officially backing off (at least for you). In lay terms, that means the tug of war you’ve felt between your home and family, and your professional goals will ease. If you’ve spent the holiday break ruminating on how you’re going to fit everything in, expect things to feel a little less imminent from this week onwards. Watch your step on Tuesday/Wednesday (AEST and GMT) when that friction could flare up again.

GEMINI AND GEMINI RISING

There’s a feeling of coming “back to earth” this week. After the “speak before you think” stroke of Mercury in Sagittarius, that’s not a terrible thing. Sure it might feel a bit less fun, but sometimes there’s a time and place for Captain Sensible. That’s not to say the week is a downer. Let your hair down on Friday when your energy levels surge and you feel extra social. On Sunday, emotions run high in the very best way possible. If you’re feeling disillusioned with work, a family member could offer a fresh perspective.

CANCER AND CANCER RISING

There’s a noticeable shift this week as Mars retrograde comes to town and sets up camp in the forecourt of your life. It marks the start of a major storyline for your astrology this year so pay attention. This particular plot will be front and center, prompting you to reflect on your assertiveness, confidence and how you expend your energy. It’s also a time when male figures from your past could resurface. They may not be an old flame (although it could be), but whoever they are, they’re here for a reason. This is not so much about the person – or the disagreement – but the deeper theme they represent. Think at the ready – this should be very interesting.

LEO AND LEO RISING

Pop the bubbles on ice, this week is going to be a goodie! After what may have felt like a marathon slog through December and new year, your stars are changing. This week, look forward to feeling a whole lot less drained. With Mars retrograde departing your home sign, that “running on empty” should feel ease. The middle of the week could offer a throwback on the past four weeks’ drama, but by Friday you’re sailing towards a lot less grumpiness. On Sunday the sky looks especially nice for some solitude. If you can get away for a night, or even a few hours, do it.

VIRGO AND VIRGO RISING

There’s a cool, earthy change coming your way this week that should feel like a delightful shift. The past couple of weeks have been intense, especially on the home front. This week, the planets double down on pragmatism and dial back on the fractiousness. As your ruling planet changes signs, expect to feel more grounded, and far less reactive – especially when it comes to family. With Venus also turning up the Sade in your relationship sector, next weekend is particularly dreamy for a weekend away with someone special.

LIBRA AND LIBRA RISING

It’s action stations this week, with big Capricorn energy asking you to step up and put your money where your mouth is. As responsibility and long-term goals dominate conversation, tension between home and work could start to build. Your mission is to find a balance between staying steady for the people who rely on you, and keeping up with your long-term goals. If you’re still on holidays, the mere thought of that juggle and how you’ll fit it all in might have you in a tailspin. On the weekend, getting away – particularly by yourself – could be just what the doctor ordered. If you can make a break and go to ground, just do it.

SCORPIO AND SCORPIO RISING

There’s a sense of relief this week as the sky releases the pressure valve on your sign. The grinding irritation that’s felt like a rock (or maybe a boulder) in your shoe, particularly to do with a work issue or manager, suddenly feels a bit less unbearable. On the flipside, as your ruling planet changes signs, long-distance travel plans could hit a major roadblock. If you’re taking off anywhere this week, expect things to take twice as long as they normally would. Despite the hold-ups, a big wave of watery, sentimental energy next weekend sets the scene for some very romantic moments.

SAGITTARIUS AND SAGITTARIUS RISING

Money talk has officially entered the chat. While it may have been something that’s been percolating away the past couple of weeks, longer term issues or plans are now well and truly a hot topic. Awkward though it may feel, being conservative but pragmatic is the best approach right now (thank Capricorn season). If you’re in a relationship, pip your partner to the post and raise the conversation first. There’s no harm in being on the front foot, particularly if you don’t like talking about this stuff (and really, who does?). You needn’t have all the answers, just the courage to start the conversation.

CAPRICORN AND CAPRICORN RISING

You’re on fire this week as your home season continues to put a spring in your step that just makes you feel more in flow. Communications also get a boost of your signature, no-nonsense approach once Mercury joins the Sun in your sign (as of Tuesday) in Capricorn. With your thoughts and words flowing, the biggest challenge will be trying to slow down so the people you care about can keep up. A word of warning, they’re likely to be feeling less inspired this week (and in the weeks to come), so try to be empathetic if they look unimpressed by your suggestions to start a 75 hard challenge. Instead, take them off somewhere serene on the weekend to wash away the stress. Being in water is exactly what they need right now.

AQUARIUS AND AQUARIUS RISING

And… relax. After four weeks of extremely intense energy, things are looking decidedly less hectic for Aquarians this week. If you’ve been managing some difficult male egos, or just tiptoeing around someone who feels completely burned out, the tides are about to turn. There’s still a few little hiccups to move past – especially in the middle of the week – but by Friday you should be in the clear to take the pressure down and recalibrate. Treat yourself to something indulgent over the weekend like a float or a cold plunge to fast track your relaxation.

PISCES AND PISCES RISING

Feeling playful? There’s a lightness and optimism to the mood this week that you haven’t felt in quite a while. Not only are you feeling more social than you have in ages, but the planets are also aligning to have some excellent quality time with the people who fill your cup. Now Mercury and the Sun are activating your social sphere, now is the time to tee up some catch-ups. Mind your step mid-week when a little speedbump could reignite a sore point from the past month. Once Friday rolls around, you’ve got a few glorious days to lap up the good vibes with the people you love. Make the most of it!
