After a successful debut last year, the French Book Fair in Malaysia is back for its second edition on March 23rd, 2025. This year’s theme, “Animals of Malaysia”, aims to raise awareness about environmental issues. More than just books, it’s a full-on affair with theatre shows, signings, fun workshops and more—perfect for families to attend.
The fair will feature 26 distinguished French-speaking authors, including well-known figures like Wilfried N’Sondé, a 17-time award winner, and Hélène Honnorat, whose novel was adapted into a French TV series. Attendees can also visit Carnet d’Asie, the official bookstore, and browse second-hand French and bilingual books.
More than just books—the fair offers a wide range of activities for all ages. There will be author conferences, theatrical shows for kids based on French children’s books, and creative workshops such as drawing, origami, and Chinese calligraphy. A Pantoun Tree poetry competition and a cultural showcase from the Mah Meri delegation will highlight Malaysian indigenous arts, such as wood carving and dance.
The fair is for everyone—whether you’re a native French speaker, still learning, or just love French culture. Many events will be in English, and the workshops are open to all ages.
Families can dig into delicious French pastries from Paul, while the adults enjoy some Minuty rosé. Plus, there will be lucky draws with amazing prizes like trips from Club Med.
It’s all happening at the premiere French hub, Alliance Française Kuala Lumpur. And the best part? Admission is free. So, mark your calendars and join in for a fun celebration of French literature, creativity, and culture.
