The City of Lights is home to pre-eminent luxury maisons, romantic bistros, the best steak frits in the world and for a short time in August, the 2024 Summer Olympics. Naturally, the convergence of all those elements drew a number of stars to Paris over the past month, including Sydney Sweeney who stepped out on August 11 with her fiancé Jonathan Davino.

The engaged couple, who were first linked in 2018, were spotted leaving an Italian restaurant after an intimate date night. For the occasion, Sweeney continued her bohemian streak in a tailored watercolour floral set from American label Ralph Lauren.

The sold-out two-piece featured an oversized double-breasted blazer and matching micro shorts. She added a touch of the French capital by completing the ensemble with Givenchy’s pastel blue stilettos with built-in knee-high stockings. Sweeney has recently gravitated to the feminine fluidity of the bohemian aesthetic after stepping out in Chemena Kamali’s new season Chloé during a meeting in Beverly Hills.

While in Los Angeles, Sweeney wore the ethereal 41st look from the collection presentation, which featured a khaki cape, tiered ruffle mini dress and leather thigh-grazing heeled boots. Given that the origins of the silhouette emerged out of Paris in the 19th Century—and was again revised in the 1970s through French style icons like Yves Saint Laurent muse Betty Catroux and Jane Birkin—it’s only fitting that Sweeney should take style cues from her surroundings. Long may this look reign.
