Selena Gomez is full of surprises, not just for her raging success as a true multihyphenate—the 32-year-old is a talented singer, actor and the founder of beloved beauty brand Rare Beauty. Most recently, the Only Murders In The Building actress shocked fans when she suddenly announced a new album with her fiancé—and renowned music producer—Benny Blanco. Gomez first dropped the news on Valentine’s Day last week, no less. The album, slated for release on 21 March this year, is titled I Said I Love You First.

Ahead of the album’s full release, Gomez has already dropped two tracks with her “best friend” and fiancé. The first was Scared Of Loving You, a mellow love ballad set against the backdrop of a soft acoustic guitar. The track features the voices of both Gomez and Blanco, who adds a tender touch to the song with his supporting vocals. Gomez and Blanco also released the track Call Me When You Break Up, with singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams just yesterday. Reminiscent of Gomez’s older dance albums, the upbeat track is a definite bop—and already has fans swooning over the unexpected collaboration.

Blanco and Gomez confirmed the news of their engagement last December, after weeks of speculation from fans and the press. The duo has been working together for years now, with Blanco being credited as a co-producer behind some of Gomez’s most popular hits, including Kill Em With Kindness (2015), Same Old Love (2015) and Single Soon (2023). Throughout his career as a music producer and composer, Blanco has also worked with other major artists like BTSAriana GrandeJustin Bieber and SZA.

Given their shared affinity for music, the pair naturally connected over time, but they started off as nothing more than friends. But things changed when Blanco brought Gomez to meet one of his friends at a birthday party. The couple officially announced that they were dating in December 2023.
