After months of speculation about the state of their relationship, Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, bringing their two years of marriage to an end. The records show that their official date of separation was April 26, 2024.
Lopez and Affleck, or ‘Bennifer’ as they’re collectively known, reignited their relationship in September 2021 after hard-launching their reunion through a PDA-filled walk in New York City. The pair soon rekindled the romance that ended two decades prior after breaking off their engagement in 2004.
The couple tied the knot for the first time in July 2022 at an intimate ceremony at Las Vegas’ Little White Wedding Chapel. They later hosted a bigger celebration in August 2022 at Affleck’s multi-million dollar estate in Georgia, with the Grammy Award winner wearing three custom Ralph Lauren dresses for the occasion.
Two years to the day of that service, Lopez officially dissolved the union. As per reports, Lopez “waived spousal support and is asking the judge to deny [Affleck] such support as well.” The former couple recently listed their jointly owned mansion in Beverly Hills for upwards of AUD $100 million. Neither of the duo have made an official statement, though it’s alleged that Lopez and Affleck are currently not in communication.
Lopez was set to embark on a worldwide stadium tour in celebration of her love-themed ninth studio album, though she cancelled it in June this year citing the desire to take “time off to be with her children, family and close friends”. Affleck was spotted dining with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and their eldest daughter Violet in anticipation of her move to college. Both Affleck and Lopez’s children are said to still be on good terms.
