Congratulations are due for Emma Roberts and her fiancé Cody John after the actor proposed to his long-term girlfriend in a bucolic field worthy of a Nicholas Sparks-penned love story. John popped the question with a tasteful and timeless engagement ring. The solitaire diamond appears to be a brilliant round cut placed on a thick gold band and finished in a prong setting.
Roberts took to social media to share the joyous news with her 20 million Instagram followers, posting a sweet photo of the engaged couple hugging in a lake-side picturesque setting. The actress and book club founder accompanied the picture with a tongue-in-cheek caption, writing: “Putting this here before my mom tells everyone ❤️”
It wasn’t just the romantic setting or classic engagement ring that piqued our interest, but rather Robert’s choice to eschew the traditional bridal white hue for the occasion. After revealing her eclectic tastes in the tour of her Los Angeles cottage for Architectural Digest, Roberts doubled down on her penchant for unorthodox style with a dreamy bohemian chic nap shirt. Why wear white when you can wear Dôen?
The style in question is the ethereal Californian-based label’s beloved Henri top in blush. The rosy piece is inspired by Edwardian dress and features gentle pintucks, softly billowing puffed shoulders, a dramatic V-neck and a cascading ruffle lace collar that lines the entire front of the shirt. (Taylor Swift, Whitney Port and Lily Aldridge also own the white variant of the style!)
We didn’t get a glimpse of how Roberts styled the piece—rather at her glistening diamond—but the mother-of-one has previously worn the look while promoting her online reading community, Belletrist. The summery look comprised of Dôen’s palazzo style wide-leg pants in an angelic salt colourway (which are currently on sale!), cat eye sunglasses from Ray-Ban and cream and yellow Adidas Sambas.
Roberts’ co-sign is definitive evidence that the anti-bride era is far from finished. No details on the couple’s nuptials have emerged. Still, you can expect a nonconformist approach to the wedding with vintage-inspired references and room for her entire doll collection.
