This month is a really promising one. As we head into the festive season, we’re going to have one last hurrah with beauty launches before the brands start offering curations of their best-selling heroes in stunning limited-edition formats. Keep reading to see who made it to our Best of Beauty of October 2024.
A couple of skincare launches take the cake. Both Origins and Lancome bet big for each of their new releases, and we’re here to say that it’s well worth it. If smooth and healthy skin has been your goal, then these two have definitely earned our stamp of approval. This month, we’re also rolling out the red carpet to a familiar name that has left the local market for a while, and it’s none other than Urban Decay. To start, the brand is reintroducing its crowd-favourite setting mist, the iconic All Nighter range. To say that we’re on the edge of our seats for what’s to come would be an understatement. Will we also see the It eyeshadow palette that started it all, the original Naked palette? Only time will tell.
Also making a buzz this month is Huda Beauty’s complexion launch. The beauty maven has taken to her social media platform to address the issues—which, to us, is a non-issue, actually—simultaneously showing the inner workings of the creation of a product. Aside from that, the formula itself has earned the approval of many beauty reviewers on TikTok. Scroll to see what we think of the formula.

While we may not have heard from Origins in a while, that doesn’t mean that they have lost their teeth. In fact, it’s the opposite. Taking the time to zero in on the best formula, Origins has launched the antioxidant-rich Youthtopia range, and our pick is the Refining Apple Peel. Taking the best out of the unassuming fruit, this peel sees the resurfacing action from the blend of apple cider vinegar and glycolic acid complex. To maximise the resurfacing action, Origins pairs those with the apple peel ferment (made from apple peels from the applesauce industry!) for the youth-preserving, antioxidant benefits, and apple stem cell extract, which supports the skin cell renewal process.
Once this serum enters your life, there’s simply no going back. The latest innovation from Lancome, the Genifique Ultimate Serum is just what the doctor ordered if you’re on the hunt for a skincare item to keep your skin at optimum health. Fortified with Beta Glucan-CM technology, the serum promises to repair a year’s worth of skin damage in a matter of a week so over time, skin gets better. With the capacity to tune in to the skin’s ability for self-repair, it works in tandem with our bodily function to combat visible signs of aging. The best part? This works for sensitive skin, as well as skin post-procedure skin.
When Huda Beauty drops something new, you can bet that it’s made to withstand some serious wear. The new Easy Blur collection comes with a primer and a brush, but the star of the show is most definitely the Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation. Super light in texture, it promises medium-to-buildable coverage—so you can tune it up for a full beat without worrying about how it will sit on the skin. But the main selling point? That it’s effectively a real-life, soft-focus filter for the skin. Perfect for those struggling with slight texture, the foundation is foolproof where application is concerned, seeing as it is a silicone-free formula.
Who doesn’t want an unblemished and radiant complexion? Here to help you on that journey, Kayman Beauty’s BluMarine Refining Serum is armed with salicylic and succinic acids, both of which are the best to reduce blemishes and the appearance of pores. At the right dose, the combination does its job effectively without disrupting the skin’s acid mantle. Coupled with the superstar ingredients are the hero to the BluMarine line: the immensely hydrating deep sea water that’s extracted from over 200 metres below the surface level. Additionally, the serum is further made better with hyaluronic acid and a peptide complex to plump up the skin, resulting in a more youthful and smooth skin.
Oh, we’ve missed her sorely. For a lot of us, the Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Makeup Setting Spray is a staple, but since its departure from the Malaysian market, it will need an introduction to a new generation of beauty shoppers. Iconic and award-winning, the spray locks in your makeup in a long-wearing and waterproof seal to keep the beat in place for up to 16 hours. Amped with its patented Temperature Control Technology, it promises to keep the makeup feeling fresh despite the weather. The OG version is a no-fuss, fail-safe option, but should you want to go for different results, there are flankers to do the trick.
The trend of lip nourishing products shows no signs of slowing down. This time, Biossance is throwing its hat—or the Pro-Peptide Lip Perfector—into the ring, and it’s shaping up to be one of the best in the market. Made for all-day use, it harnesses the benefits of plumping hyaluronic acid, nourishing triple-strength peptide, and the favourite ingredient at the brand, moisturising squalane. This isn’t only for the girls who prefer a light wash of colour on the lips. Those of us who enjoy a bold, liquid lip moment stand to benefit from this too, as the lip perfector is made to keep the lips at optimal health and plumpness so by the time you choose to swipe on some solid colours, the lips will be ready.
From the nose that brought to us a string of Le Labo hits, the iconic Glossier You range, as well as a couple of drops from Phlur, Frank Voelkl has brought DKNY to a new era, opening the doors for a whole new generation of perfume shoppers through the release of DKNY 24/7 Eau de Parfum. As the name suggests, the juice is an easy, no-fuss scent to wear, with notes of pink pepper, rhubarb, jasmine sambac, rose centifolia, upcycled cedarwood and musk that results in a vibrant fragrance that celebrates relentless optimism. Echoing the buzzy pulse of New York City, 24/7 is packaged in a sleek, hourglass-shaped flacon that symbolises the infinite flow of time in the metropolitan, where the day trickles into the night and the night oozes into the day in one continuous loop.
Available at select retailers.
Been wanting to pull the trigger? Well, now’s the time to go for it, because the all-new Dyson AirWrap i.d. Multi-Styler and Dryer is a total game changer compared to the previous iteration. Now, you don’t have to manually time and change the settings to complete your hairstyle, because all you have to do is be connected to the MyDyson app, and it will take care of all of that for you. There, you can curate your hair profile so the styler can preset the amount of time and heat that’s best for your hair type—all in the flick of a finger. The tool is already known to cut down the drying and styling time, so with the new innovation, you can save even more minutes from your day.
This month, you deserve an opulent and decadent treat to yourself. Part of the new Absolus Allegoria range, the Rose Amira is an all-new release that captures the essence of the majestic rose in a nocturnal light. A jammy take on the mainstay flower in the perfume world, Rose Amira also sees notes of frankincense, patchouli and musks dancing along. Considered one of the most sensual rose scents in the Guerlain arsenal, we’d suggest you give it a good whiff in-store to see just how sweep-you-off-you-feet good Rose Amira is.
Available exclusively at Guerlain The Exchange TRX Ultimate Boutique, Parkson (Pavilion and One Utama), Isetan (The Gardens Mall).
When it comes to brows, you can count on Anastasia Beverly Hills to have some of the best creations out there. From the comprehensive shade range—yes, including blondes, greys, and redheads—to the formulation variety, there’s bound to be one to fit your brow needs. The latest addition is the Volumising Tinted Brow Gel, which comes in nine shades. With the ability to fill in with colour and actual volume, it’s your best friend, especially if you’re the kind to get ready en route, or prefer to touch up throughout the day. But we all know that the brush plays a huge role in this arena. The custom-designed, dual-action brush is the perfect pairing for the mousse-like formula, allowing both those with full and thin brows to get the best out of this product.
After celebrating its first-ever celebrity face, Tom Ford Beauty is primed to make a big move in makeup. That move is the relaunch of the celebrated Runway Lip Colour, including the addition of eight new colours. Now with an updated formula, the lipstick is made better with the inclusion of meadowfoam seed and tsubaki oils to condition and protect the lips. Promising to deliver a seamless application, the pigment-rich, fade-resistant lipstick is a must-have. Keen on snagging Angelina Jolie’s signature shade? It’s 16 Scarlet Rouge, a deep red that makes any pout camera-ready.
