Another day, another beauty brand launch. Yes, Rabanne Makeup has officially arrived, marking the fashion house’s debut into beauty as it joins the likes of Prada in the luxury beautysphere. A luxurious fusion of high fashion and cosmetic artistry, this haute couture-inspired beauty collection promises to redefine glamour while bringing a futuristic edge to your makeup bag. “Inspired by fashion fabrics, unexpected sparkle, matte, gloss and metal finishes take their cue from the iconic codes of The Maison, then reinvent them for the next generation of change–makers,” the brand announced.
Following a rebrand earlier this summer, the brand formerly known as Paco Rabanne took to Instagram yesterday to make its big reveal – distinguishing itself from the (countless) other fashion-meets-beauty brands with its futuristic and metallic aesthetic. This is Paco Rabanne we’re talking about, after all. Three words? Beyoncé’s chainmail dress.
Choosing legendary makeup artist Diane Kendal as Creative Director, Rabanne Beauty draws on her decades of experience in the fashion industry to create a collection full of colour, cool textures and insane pigments. Seriously, just look at the payoff from the Mini Palettes. The go-to for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and Alexander Wang, Kendal has created some of the most iconic looks on the runway, and her fashion-forward, trend-led approach is at the very heart of the collection.
While the complete collection is set to launch on October 1st, Rabanne Beauty’s eye makeup edit – Eyephoria – is already being snapped up. Think: opulent eyeshadows, dramatising mascara (glitter lashes, anyone?) and creamy clean, vegan eye paints that have us itching to channel our inner Rue Bennet. Basically, there’s everything you could possibly want to create a stunning, shimmery nude eye or a full-on greased-up smoky look.
All this has to come with a pretty hefty price tag, right? Wrong. Rabbane Beauty is very much positioning itself as on-trend, daring and playful but without being unattainable. The entire collection is priced between US$15 to US$38, making it particularly appealing to Gen Z beauty lovers. Even more so, given that from October, you’ll be able to shop the products on ULTA Beauty. Aka Gen Z’s go-to beauty e-tailer. As Jerome Leloup, VP at Rabanne Beauty, said in a press release, “As the largest beauty retailer in the U.S. and Gen Z’s preferred beauty destination, Ulta Beauty will provide Rabanne access to this highly engaged and influential demographic, along with new consumers, making it a perfect fit for the launch of Rabanne’s makeup.” Bring on October, we say.
