Much has been discussed about the merits of effortless beauty over the years. But there is no one in Hollywood embracing the style more authentically than that of Pamela Anderson. Since debuting her new bare-faced style at Paris Fashion Week in September 2023, the actress and author has eschewed her 90s bombshell glamour for a more minimal approach to makeup.
Now, a year later, Anderson is finally revealing the secrets to achieving an elevated yet understated aesthetic. The answer? A French girl fringe.
Long heralded by the likes of Jane Birkin and Alexa Chung as the definitive lived-in look, Anderson switched out her signature Malibu blonde ‘do for something more provincial. The outing came during the SAG-AFTRA special screening of her latest film, Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. As anyone who has ever gotten bangs before can’t attest, the hairstyle is a shortcut to achieving a more polished edge. Because what says put together like taking the effort to brush and blow out your front piece into place?
While Anderson has firmly kept her press tour silhouettes in the realm of casual luxury, doing so in Australia’s own Viktoria & Woods and Los Angeles-based label Rue Sophie, the Baywatch alumni added drama to her outfit in a striking cashmere dress from Bottega Veneta.
The sculpted ensemble features soft panels that theatrically curve into an oversized midi and exaggerated sleeves that protrude from the body. The style debuted in the Italian luxuriate’s Winter ‘24 collection and is surprisingly on trend to Pantone’s colour of the year. (Which, for the uninitiated, is a creamy brown called ‘Mocha Mousse’.)
Though her role, which landed her first-ever Golden Globe nomination, will see the 57-year-old in the chintzy sequins and glitzy costumes synonymous with the Las Vegas strip, it’s refreshing to see Anderson remain so committed to her uncomplicated beauty philosophy. We can’t wait to see what Pam will conjure up for next month’s award ceremony!
