In sunny Los Angles, Margot Robbie made her final stop on the Barbie press tour in a show-stopping closing look for the Global Premiere of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film. Tapping Schiaparelli for a custom couture gown inspired by the 1961 ‘Solo in the Spotlight’ Barbie, the actress was the picture of elegance in a black strapless sequin dress with a pink tulle trumpet skirt and velvet opera gloves.
Though the look—and her breathtaking Lorraine Schwartz jewels—were a knockout, her beauty look was the unsung hero of the evening.
With a heap of world cities and extravagant looks sourced by stylist Andrew Mukamal to pull off, Robbie’s longtime makeup artist Pati Dubroff has certainly had her work cut out for her. Luckily for us, she’s not one to gatekeep. The revered celebrity makeup artist took to Instagram to share close-up details of Robbie’s premiere makeup, as well as a sneak at some of the products that went into the look.
Taking inspiration from the same retro Mattel doll, Dubroff channelled the vintage glamour of a ’60s-era Barbie but modernised the look to keep it true to the actress’ own less-is-more personal style. While the doll boasted a face of frosted blue eyeshadow with thick liquid liner, bold rosy cheeks and a coral-red pout, Dubroff’s iteration was a bit more subdued. Though she nailed the lip shade, the artist opted for softer eyes, swapping the dramatic black liner for warmer touches of brown and pink.
In one snap of a carousel posted to Instagram, the MUA gave us some intel on the exact Chanel Beauty products she employed to create the Old Hollywood makeup look. With an array of reds (a signature of the French luxury house), muted pink and brown eyeliner and show, as well as the cult-favourite Baume Essentiel Muti-Use Glow Stick that can be credited for Robbie’s iridescent sheen.
