The actress even took to the scissors herself.

Just a few months ago, Lily Collins attended the Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2024 show in Paris with her long, brown tresses styled in undone waves that almost hit her waist in length. But just as other celebrities like Hailey BieberSydney Sweeney and Gigi Hadid have demonstrated, it’s all about the shorter crop this season.

Debuting a fresh new look at the premiere of MAXXXINE, Collins stunned with an elegant side-swept bob haircut. Even though it’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere, she also made a surprising change to a darker chocolate brown hue—which perfectly contrasted with her powder blue Schiaparelli ensemble featuring a dramatic piece of jewelled armour from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

Assisted by celebrity hair maestros Gregory Russell for the cut and  Jacob Schwartz for colour, she shared some surprising behind-the-scenes snaps of the process that even show the Emily in Paris star taking to the shears herself.

As Russell films, Collins can be seen looking shocked before laughing as she cuts off the bulk of her length. Naturally, she then leaves it to the pros to finish the job, culminating in a chin-grazing length with some long layers and face-framing bangs.

“New hair era unlocked,” is all she said of the transformation, alongside the photos.

Though it’s not the first time Collins has rocked a shorter length or switched up her look, she joins the long list of Hollywood women making a strong case for the bob.
