There are few celebrities that wield as much sartorial influence as Bella Hadid. In the past few weeks alone, she’s pioneered the rise of Coach’s coveted Brooklyn hobo bag, updated her most viral silhouette and become the first person to wear Proenza Schouler’s collaboration with Sorel off the runway.
Now, she’s debuted a new hairstyle that could be the most convincing case for chopping bangs that we’ve seen this year. (Aside from Daisy Edgar-Jones on the Twisters 2 press tour, of course.)
Overnight in Dubai, the supermodel fêted her role as the global brand ambassador for Swiss luxuriate Chopard and their latest collection, Ice Cube, which she fronted the campaign. Though she was just spotted in New York with her signature soft layers days earlier, the ‘Ôrəbella founder debuted a shorter chop and textured fringe for her latest red carpet foray. Indeed, Hadid skipped out the transitional ‘butterfly cut’ and committed to the new full-bodied look.
Styled by celebrity hairdresser Syd Hayes, the style savant ensured there was lots of volume and hold in the cut, with wispier bits pushed towards the front to create movement and dimension. The rest of her tresses were snipped into longer layers around her ears or pulled back in a half-up, half-down do that evoked the essence of 90s Monica Bellucci or a chic, grown-up version of Winona Ryder’s Beetlejuice character Lydia Deetz.
We’re positive these scream queens were on Hadid’s mood board given their recent fixture in the cultural zeitgeist after both recently starring in the film’s sequel and the fact the Kin Euphorics patron previously dressed as the character for Halloween in 2018.
But given this is Bella Hadid we’re talking about, the 28-year-old delivered a serving of archival high fashion along with her enviable crop. As posted by her stylist, Molly Dickson, Hadid wore a black, utility dress shirt from Thierry Mugler circa 1980 for the occasion. Styling the vintage look with a slew of dazzling Chopard pieces, Hadid once again proved she’ll forever be that girl. Don’t forget to show your stylist this picture for your next appointment. You never know—this could be the push you need to finally crop bangs this season!
