It’s the beginning of yet another fashion week, and this time around we’re swinging right into the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week. The Spring/Summer 2025 lineup so far has included household names like Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, and will soon be the destination for Coach and Tory Burch as well. Asian fashion designers are also stepping up to the plate, with coquette-core queen Sandy Liang Singaporean New York-based designer Grace Ling both also presenting their SS25 collections for the world to revel in, in New York. In addition to the stellar queue of shows that have opened up the SS25 season, there have also been a number of fascinating beauty moments.
Get ahead of the game, and pick up a thing or two from the runways of the NYFW shows. There’s nothing cooler than being a trendsetter, and that applies to beauty as well. From killer makeup details to the slickest hairdos, here are the hottest beauty trends to pick up from the Spring/Summer 2025 shows at New York Fashion Week.
Purple Pouts At Sandy Liang
If it wasn’t clear enough before that we’re still very much in the midst of a 2000s era revival, it sure is now. For Sandy Liang’s SS25 runway presentation, models sported a matte pastel purple lipstick to accompany the playful, girl-core fashions that Liang never fails to deliver.
Aespa’s Winter’s Blonde Updo
Classy and elevated, Aespa’s Winter is a goddess in real life with her beauty look at the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2025 show. Embracing her bright blonde hair, she tucked up her locks in a stylistic updo that felt in tune with the old-money aesthetic that Ralph Lauren is known for.
For her complexion, she opted for a clean base that allowed her powder-peach lipstick to shine through and take centrestage.
Krystal Jung’s Old Money Look
The Ralph Lauren show was set against the backdrop of vintage cars and a massive holiday home, and who better to embody the old money aesthetic than Korean actress and singer Krystal Jung? The star adopted loose boho curls for an effortless look like no other.
This season, you can also learn a thing or two from Jung and match your lip colour to your cheek shade, for a combo that’ll appear seamless and très chic.
Frosty Lips With A Twist At Sandy Liang
Again at Sandy Liang’s SS25 show, some of the other models went for an even bolder proclamation that the 2000s are here to stay. Frosty lips—also in a purple hue, this time—were brought out during the show. Silvery metallics with undertones of pinks and lavender were the name of the game, channelling the spy girl every that Liang put forth in her show notes.
High Contrast At Grace Ling
Alex Cosani sealed her status as one of the Internet’s best it-girls when she opened for Grace Ling’s Spring/Summer 2025 show in New York. The model and influencer’s distinct bleached-brow look was given a high-contrast touch, with a neutral red lip. Diffused and powdery, the matte red lipstick introduced some dimension to the otherwise monochromatic makeup look.
Another detail that we foresee is here to stay is the wet hair, which is a departure from Ling’s typical penchant for sculptural hairdos. While the damp hair look was seen and beloved on the runways of seasons past, Ling’s iteration of her SS25 runway comes across as sleek, without feeling unnatural.
Nara Smith’s Understated Makeup Look
Supporting her husband and baby daddy Lucky Blue Smith who walked the Ralph Lauren runway in the Hamptons was Nara Smith. The Internet’s favourite posh home-cook, who makes everything—and we really mean everything—from scratch, was in New York to watch her husband take on the RL fashion crowd. She showed up in an understated look that felt and looked just as classic as the show itself.
With a sleek side part and a dusty mauve lip, Smith’s look felt put-together, polished and all-around chic.
Aespa’s Winter’s Big Hippie Perm
For an off-duty look, Winter embraced the beauty of the Hamptons while showing off her stunning hippie perm. This hairstyle, while perhaps not ideal for a humid climate like Malaysia, is an amazing way to transform any outfit.
