At the Vanity Table With… is a series that dives into a personality’s beauty tips, tricks, non-negotiables, and more. In this edition, Sharifah Rose shares a surprising hack to achieve her glam, a reliable product that always keeps her hair in place (and that’s in her hijab), and more.
With almost a million followers on her Instagram, a sizeable and growing list of shows she’s starred in, and her very own successful hijab brand, Sharifah Rose has more than just found her footing in life. Not many 25-year-olds can say the same, but for this actress, model, and content creator, it’s only onwards and upward from here.
From modelling in her teens to appearing in a music video, she quickly found her way to our TV screens. She made her first TV appearance in 2019, and since 2021, she’s been the leading lady in multiple Malaysian TV dramas. Right now, the audience is eating up her performance in Dua Darjat, a show where she plays the heroine next to Aniq Durar.
Off-screen, Rose is the founder and creative head of Harirose, her very own hijab brand. Having its start in early 2022, the scarf label has become a favourite amongst shoppers, so much so that Harirose has now expanded into the Brunei market.
But you’ll get the most out of her through her TikTok account, where her real personality shines through. There, you can find her swatching the latest colour cosmetics to hit the shelves, dressing up a la get-ready-with-me style, and going on adventures with her good friends—most notably, Khainina Khalil, a fellow At the Vanity Table alum.
Ahead, she shares her beauty opinions, must-haves, and little fun facts that make her Sharifah Rose.
Confess a beauty crime that you have committed before
Really, really thick brows. It’s so dark that it’s actually just straight-up black. I remember specifically using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade at the time.
A beauty item you would immediately replace if it’s lost
Immediately concealer. I struggle with dark circles, especially because of my sinuses. So, I can’t not have my concealer with me at all times.
Three items that are on your beauty wish list right now
At the top of my wish list right now are the Ulike LED Mask, the Terahertz Gua Sha, and a water filter for my sink faucet.
A person you have the biggest beauty crush on, and why?
100% Anne Hathaway. In my books, she’s literally the epitome of perfection. She ages so gracefully, too. I wish to age just like her.
Something you’re gatekeeping right now. Spill.
Collagen. Drink your collagen, girlies. For me, I find that it really helps with my dry skin and tiny bumps. Also, it really helps to repair your skin barrier.
A trend that needs to die
Eyelash extensions—like those really dramatic ones—and over-blushing, especially on your chin and nose. Just… why?
A viral product that does nothing for you
Um, the Kosas Revealer Brightening Concealer. I don’t know, it really does nothing for me. And like I said earlier, concealers are a really big deal for me.
A makeup step you will never skip before you head out the door
Setting my makeup after everything. My tip is to make sure that you lock it in with both a really good setting powder and a setting spray.
The skincare item that completely transformed your skin for the better
Takami Skin Peel Beauty Serum. I cannot emphasise this enough: I love it so much. It literally fixed my skin texture and my acne troubles. I’m a little sad that it’s not yet available in Malaysia.

Your trick to achieve the best hair day
As a hijabi, there’s the need to make sure that my hair stays tucked away. For this, I rely on my trusted hair wax stick to keep that from happening. So before I wear my hijab, I would apply a light coat of it. If I don’t, I can almost guarantee the strands will find their way out.
An unexpected beauty hack you always incorporate into your routine
It’s not necessarily a “hack”, but doing makeup in my car has resulted in some great outcomes. I find myself doing my makeup better and faster when I’m in the car. Just don’t drive while you’re doing it, of course!
An underrated perfume you think everyone should give a chance to
Maison Materi by Khainina Khalil. At the moment, she has three fragrances under the label. Everybody should really check them out.
The last beauty indulgence you had done
I did the Acne Facial at MyClinic. They’re my go-to aesthetic clinic whenever I struggle with any skin problems.
A song that will always get you in the mood to get ready
Any Ariana Grande songs. She has different kinds of songs for different kinds of moods.
Brands that check all the boxes for you
I love Hourglass. They don’t have a single product fail. Just A’s across the board.
Malaysians you look up to
I think the biggest influences in my life are my family and closest friends. And I mean it from small to big things.
A mantra that you live by
I practice daily affirmation every single morning. “I am my own person. I am confident. I am loved. I am smart. I am respected. I am kind. I attract success and happiness.”
