A household name in the many films we love, Elle Fanning has played her fair share of roles in the world of cinema. From starring as the titular character in The Neon Demon to Sleeping Beauty in Maleficent, her sheer talent, determination and range have impressed Cartier and landed her as the global ambassador and the new face of the maison’s Grain de Café collection.
Debuting the partnership, Fanning walked the Met Gala bathed in the warm glow reflected from the shining yellow gold Grain de Café necklace. Reminiscent of the Riveria sun, the necklace studded with diamonds draws inspiration from the shape of a coffee bean, and turns the ordinary into the extraordinary.
The Grain de Café collection was first introduced in 1938 by Jeanne Toussaint, then Cartier’s creative director. It went on to adorn Princess Grace of Monaco in the 1950s, who was arguably the legendary jewellery collection’s most famous wearer. “As our new global ambassador, [Fanning] brings a luminous on-screen presence to the Grain de Café collection and campaign that recalls its most famous wearer, Princess Grace of Monaco,” notes Arnaud Carrez, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Cartier.
Fanning becoming the face of the collection is a natural progression, since the collection campaign draws upon the personality and talent of Grace Kelly, who was synonymous with the French Riviera and the golden age of cinema. “I am so proud to become Cartier’s global ambassador. The Grain de Café collection embodies so much of what makes Cartier’s style and savoir-faire unique; from exquisite goldwork to the precious transformation of an everyday object,” says Fanning. “It is an honour to become the face of a creation that brings together elegance, glamour and radiant femininity.”
