Following its Cruise 2025 presentation in Hong Kong, Chanel is heading to Hangzhou for its Métiers d’Art 2025 fashion show.

The city, located along the Southeast coast of China, is home to the famous West Lake, which has inspired literature, poetry and art throughout history. The lake was also a familiar sight to Gabrielle Chanel: it was depicted on the largest Coromandel screen that the Chanel designer kept in her Paris apartment.

The connection between Chanel and West Lake is emphasised in a new short film by Wim Wenders, which was commissioned by the French fashion brand and stars British actress Tilda Swinton. The film sees Swinton on a journey to the scenic lake—which officially became a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 2011. The actress is also joined by fellow Chanel ambassadors Xin Zhilei and Leah Dou.

Apart from the significance of West Lake, Hangzhou makes the perfect location of a Chanel Métiers d’Art fashion show. After all, the city has a rich heritage of silk manufacturing and trade, and it has historically been an important home for craft and culture in China. Chanel’s Métiers d’Art fashion shows are a celebration of the maison’s expertise in artisanal craft, and highlight the skills and savoir-faire that comes out of Le19M, its craftsmanship hub in Paris.

The Chanel Métiers d’Art 2025 fashion show takes place at 9.00 pm on Tuesday, 3 December (Singapore time). Tune into the Chanel livestream below to get a glimpse of the new collection, straight from Hangzhou.
