What do Kim Kardashian and Princess Diana have in common? Aside from being some of the most photographed women alive, an interest in humanitarian causes and hailing from families that pique the public interest, both the reality star and the late Princess of Wales share a fondness for a particular bejewelled crucifix.
Overnight in Hollywood, the SKIMS founder became the first person to wear Lady Spender’s Attallah Cross pendant necklace since she styled the statement piece for a charity ball hosted in London on October 27, 1987. Though the burgeoning actress might’ve only been seven when the iconic piece of jewellery made its last public appearance, it didn’t stop her from picking it up at a Sotheby’s auction in 2023 for an eye-watering AUD $298,682.
Last night in Los Angeles, over three decades since its most recent outing, the precious stones were revived for one night at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala. While posing at the Urban Light sculpture at the museum’s entrance, Kardashian showcased her exclusive acquisition in a scene-stealing plunging white custom Gucci gown. The body-conscious shape featured a deep v-neck that accentuated her décolletage and was paired with a floor-grazing ivory cape, both designed by the Italian luxuriate’s creative director Sabato De Sarno.
While Kardashian also debuted a freshly-chopped bob, joining the likes of Victoria Beckham, Nicola Peltz and Natalie Portman, the dazzling bijoux still served as the outfit’s pièce de résistance. Taking cues from Princess Diana’s sartorial preferences, Kardashian also styled the pendant on a pearl chain to showcase the square-cut amethysts and circular diamonds worth 5.25 carats.
Of course, that wasn’t the only regal look on display during the soirée. From Chloë Sevigny wearing Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2025 eclectically paired womenswear to Kaia Gerber elevating ‘brat green’ in a flapper-esque gown, see the best looks from the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala, below.
