Ever been privy to a very heated confrontation between two people, then felt the vibe shift when one person leaves the room? Their departure doesn’t erase what just went down, and even if they’ve just gone into the next room, the flimsiest of walls can diffuse the tension. That moment after they’ve left can just feel extremely awkward; maybe you have the urge to slow clap, or audibly exhale. Maybe someone suggests a stiff drink, or maybe all three? That moment that follows a big showdown, where you feel it, but the peak has passed, that’s where we are this week.

All the things that felt overbearing and enormous late last week (especially around Friday) will still feel big, but perhaps ever so slightly less activating. With Mars leaving Cancer, tensions ease, as does the urge to sulk, snipe or speak sotto voce. It’s a whole lot more “spit it out” and “get on with it” and little less “just you wait, you’ll be sorry for that”.

Whenever a big tension bubble bursts, it’s natural to want to calm your nerves, and with Venus and Neptune in a lively dance all week, even the most restrained among us will be thinking “pour me a double”. Fun, but not practical – or healthy – as a means of dealing with big feelings. Still, it is almost party season, so just one cheeky Negroni might not be such a terrible idea?

ARIES AND ARIES RISING

There’s a balmy change on the way this week and it couldn’t have come at a better time. While there’s most definitely still a few aftershocks from last week’s drama (especially around Thursday/Friday AEST and GMT), the overall vibe is decidedly less heightened. With a slew of fiery vibes coming your way you’ll feel more in your element than you have in months. The temptation to book an OS ticket on a whim will be major, particularly over next weekend. If you haven’t got the funds, stay away from your inbox, or you might find yourself unable to resist a good deal.

TAURUS AND TAURUS RISING

For Taurean folks, there’s nothing quite like a little splurge to soothe frayed nerves. “Little treat” mode is well and truly activated this week as a bunch of planets dare you to buy now, pay later. After the week that was, no one would blame you for needing a little pick me up, but be warned, any bargains that slide into your inbox this week and seem too good to be true, most likely are. Meanwhile, Mars brings a noticeable spice to all things family and home related. It might not directly involve you, but expect to see action or momentum (or confrontation) take off with people in your domestic sphere.

GEMINI AND GEMINI RISING

Brace yourself for a surge of energy and excitement as Mercury joins Venus supercharging your relationship dynamic. If you’ve felt dragged down by the grind of your day-to-day, expect to feel a new lease on life – or love. With Venus activating dreamy Neptune, you may even find yourself swept away in a little romantic interlude, especially next weekend. It’s a welcome change after a gnarly couple of weeks, but make sure you don’t let that last minute escape max out your credit card. The pull to treat yourself – or whoever you’re with – will be major but could cause an energetic hangover next week.

CANCER AND CANCER RISING

There’s an easing of tension – not an entire absence per se, but a noticeable shift, this week – as Mars moves out of your home sign. From Monday onwards, you should feel a palpable change that helps alleviate feelings of irritation or resentment that have been percolating for the past month or so. While the drama of last week is likely to still feel raw, and maybe reactivated again around Thursday/Friday (AEST and GMT), for the most part this week feels a whole lot less heightened. If you’re feeling the need to lick your wounds and regroup, this is potentially the best week of the month to do exactly that.

LEO AND LEO RISING

Brace yourself, there’s some serious bravado incoming. With Mars bursting into your home sign, you’re about to get a rush of motivation, drive and confidence to jump feet first into whatever comes your way. It’s a delightful shift from the past few weeks that may have felt especially murky and underhanded (blame Mars in Cancer). While the drama that’s been unfolding won’t magically disappear (expect a little rematch late in the week), overall the vibe is more playful, outgoing and cavalier than not. And that is a vibe change you can’t help but get onboard.

VIRGO AND VIRGO RISING

There’s “good” and then there’s “too good to be true” and this week, it may be hard to spot the difference. After some very intense astro weather, no one would blame you for wanting to believe the best of people. And while a sense of optimism is a beautiful thing, this week you’ll be doing yourself a disservice to drop your usually sharp sense of discernment. When people, opportunities or freebies land in your lap, don’t rush your response. There may not be any malice behind it, but a lack of practicality or planning could mean any “gift” won’t come without strings attached.

LIBRA AND LIBRA RISING

Hip, hip hooray there’s a sense of relief on the way! You’ve had the Mars/Pluto stand/off front and centre in your life and this week that looks set to chill. It’s not a total easing of tensions, but with Mars moving out of your work life, “being pulled in a million different directions” vibe you’ve been battling should alleviate – at least a bit. With Mercury and Venus firing up all things communication and connection, expect to get a delightful boost of motivation to explore new projects – especially anything commercial. Write everything down, but take it easy before you commit: if an offer seems too good to be true, this week, it probably is.

SCORPIO AND SCORPIO RISING

With your ruling planet a little clearer of that nasty face off with Pluto, there’s a sense of relief within reach this week. Although the overall vibe is a little less watery (your preferred element), it will also be a whole lot less fractious – and that is not a bad thing. With the Sun and Saturn forming a juicy trine early in the week, use your razor sharp focus to find a solution to something that’s been a long-term roadblock. There’s also a pretty major wave of “buy buy buy” energy that could see you shelling out more than you planned. It’s frivolous and fun, but don’t lose touch of your Scorpio skepticism. If a secondhand bag seems like too good a deal to be the real– it’s probably just a very good fake.

SAGITTARIUS AND SAGITTARIUS RISING

Feeling fired up? It’s not your imagination, it’s most definitely in the sky. While your home season is still a couple of weeks away, there’s an undeniable hum of anticipation. With both Mercury and Venus bringing lightness and optimism to your day to day, you’ll be feeling inspired to put yourself out there and speak your mind. It’s a nice change after the heaviness but be warned: with Neptune muddying the waters, there’s a risk of vague-ing out on details or saying “yes” to things that haven’t been thought through – or made clear. And if you find yourself at an early holiday party next weekend, overdoing it on the punch is a very real risk.

CAPRICORN AND CAPRICORN RISING

It’s time to exhale. After holding your breath through some pretty tense moments the past week (or even month?), things feel a whole lot less heightened this week. It’s not that the issue has disappeared off the radar, but it definitely feels less “life or death” than it did last Friday. In its place, Venus, Mercury and Neptune are bringing the levity. That’s good news if your nerves are feeling a little ragged, but be warned with lightness comes the temptation to numb out. Next weekend looks especially tempting. If you’re not in the mood to dance on tables – or spend all your pay in one sitting – have an early night.

AQUARIUS AND AQUARIUS RISING

With tensions easing ever so slightly, there’s a breezier window this week to get on with things, especially on the work front. With a burst of Sagittarius energy melting previously frosty dynamics, Mercury and Venus bring a buoyant playfulness to anything social too. Of course it’s not that the chaos of last week has disappeared from sight, but the perceived impact seems a little less tender. Meanwhile a surge of momentum in your partner’s (or best mates) life could see things develop faster than they have in months. As their motivation and confidence takes off, back them to catch the wave and make the most of the forward motion.

PISCES AND PISCES RISING

The watery depths of Scorpio season may technically still be upon us, but an energetic shift this week will help you feel a whole lot less “in the weeds” with big feelings. With Mars moving out of a direct opposition with Pluto, you can exhale – and maybe reach for a very tall glass of vino to celebrate. While the vibe shift feels good, stay philosophical; all the drama and baggage of last week has not magically vanished, it’s just a little less in your face. It’s great weather for processing what’s happened through art exercise, organising or a major calendar overhaul, but be warned the propensity to party hard – especially next weekend – is very real.
