Timberland Reaches New Heights With The Latest Motion Range Collection

Into the woods, with maximum comfort.

Timberland needs no introduction when it comes to practical and durable outdoor wear. During the Fall/Winter 2024 in Paris, the American workwear brand earned another badge of triumph. The emblematic yellow work boots—affectionately known as the “Timbs”—were guests on the runway and later became one of the most coveted pairs among the high fashion glitterati. The label has gained a seat in both the trail mix and the luxury fashion’s stratosphere.

However, this did not halt the brand’s continuous exploration and invention in creating more outdoor and weatherproof offerings. Rolling out new introductions within its Motion Range collection, the Motion Access took over the spotlight instantly. The lightweight and thoroughbred trail companion is decorated with details that get you geared up for a “good ol’ raisins and peanuts” adventure.

To put the collection to the test, we tried a pair of Motion Access on our escapades—dipped in a versatile nude shade—for a city-to-jungle trail. From the grassy hillside to the rough trails—or even the concrete paths in the middle of KL city—the comfort level is not in question. Featuring the TimberCrush™, the sneakers are layered with a dual-density sole, providing the wearer with planted strides that flex naturally with our foot. The music to our ears is the TimberGrip™, cross-designed outsoles that ensure stability and traction, sticking firmly to the surfaces you step on, be it soft mud or crumbly gravel.

Design-wise, the Motion Access is available in multi-colourways that wrap various silhouettes: the Low, Low Waterproof, and Mid Waterproof. While most shoes made for trails are waterproof, it’s common that they are either non-breathable or heavyweight. What amazes us is not only how wearable the shoes were in this climate, but also how agile every step was. At only 339 grams at feet, the sneakers are lined with a highly breathable layer that is made with the ReBOTL™ advancement. The gusseted tongue, however, stole our attention right away as we noticed how the feet were protected from any invasion of debris and dirt.

Joining the line are the Motion Scramble and Motion 6 Hiking boots along with a range of durable protective layers. This includes the Polartex® Mix Media Full-Zip Fleecce, Polartec® Wicking Long Sleeve Tee, and the Baxter Peak Motion Stretch Pants. The quick dry feature and the ergonomic design of the pants are built for comfort in motion, even in extreme weather.

Outerwear have always been Timberland’s forte and the new Caps Ridge Waterproof Motion Jacket takes it to a new level. Minimum weight, maximum waterproof—crafted with three layers of ReBOTL™ fabric and maximum mobility with the Mobi Flex Tech construction. You know the jacket is made for the outdoors when it comes with details like adjustable hood and cuffs that cater to not only all climates but also wearers with different needs. There are also underarm zip vents that allow maximum ventilation without having to remove or roll up the jackets.

Overall, the experience was pleasant, especially after nearly 12 hours of experiencing the rich terrains our country has to offer. Ticking all the boxes, from optimal comfort to purposeful designs, the Motion Range is the one-size-fits-all solution, be it for the novice to the outdoorsy community or the experienced hikers.
