Emily Ratajkowski made her debut at the Venice International Film Festival on Saturday night for the premiere of the Italian-language WWI medical drama Battlefield. Despite being a fixture on the Côte d’Azur for the annual Cannes Film Festival, the model and My Body author has never graced the glamorous red carpet lining the historic Palazzo del Cinema until now.
For her official entrée the 33-year-old looked to the shade of the season—the sickly chartreuse made popular by British singer Charli XCX’s sixth studio album brat. The hue might be dominating the zeitgeist, but it wasn’t a contemporary piece that Ratajkowski chose to wear to the exclusive screening. Rather, Ratajkowski dug through the archives for a Tom Ford-era Gucci dress originally presented in the Italian luxuriate’s Fall/Winter 2004 collection.
See how she wears a 20-year-old vintage on the Lido di Venezia? Very demure…
The gown features a plunging neckline, contrasting panels made from sheer and satin fabric and finishes with a row of fringe. As per social media aggregator @databutmakeitfashion, the colour green is currently more popular than ever, with the shade increasing by 48% in search volume in the last month alone. The red carpet isn’t typically utilised to showcase trend analysis but Ratajkowski’s co-sign makes it clear that brat summer is far from over.
